What's quick to make, has endless variations, and keeps your calves warm on bitter days?
Forest Green spiral leg warmers from the pattern by Lilliputian Stitches.
Even though you have to make two of them, leg warmers are fun to stitch up in the round. These are a knitted, woollier answer to the crochet ones I had made for myself. This time I followed the pattern more faithfully.
The instructions were written almost a decade ago, but thankfully Lilliputian Stitches still has them up. I think the dusty pink she'd used in her photo is very sweet. She provides matched instructions for the left and right side so the spirals move in opposite directions. The ribbing on the top and bottom is very stretchy, meaning this pattern will fit most adult women but still stay up for those with petite calves.
I made these for a friend a year ago, and she brought these back out so I could take pictures. I give away nearly everything I knit, and I really regret not documenting more of my projects. Everything I make this year will go on this blog or Instagram (@knitashap), so I can share it with other knitters and keep it as a record for myself. Let me know if you have any good systems for tracking finished pieces.
Update: When she was especially cold one day, Batool appropriated them as arm warmers.
